Guild wars 2 emotes

Guild Wars 2 emote system was made to let players express their feelings with more than simple words. If you are looking to show your affection towards one another or express your hostility to the enemy that you hate then emote system might be just what you need to express yourself. Just like in real life one smile or a bit of anger might change how you perceive others and how others see you. Show what you have in mind with the emotions listed below. On the topic of Guild Wars 2, we invite you to familiarize yourself with the offer on Guild Wars 2 Gold.

How to use GW2 emotes

To perform an emote all that you need is it type a message in the chatbox. You can try different options by yourself by putting a simple slash "/" and following it with certain actions like "wave" or "dance" or just use the list below to see which of them are available in the game. Action looks might vary depending on the race you play and the gender that you have chosen for your character however there are no race restrictions so if one of the emotes is available for one of the species it will be usable by others as well. If you wish to target a specific person with your emote then you might use "@name" followup after selected emote. For example "/wave @Daniel" command will make your character wave towards a person with the nickname "Daniel".

It is also worth noting that while all of the emotes can be performed as you are standing up - not all of them can be done while sitting. Only "/cheer", "/crossarms", "/laugh", "/shrug", "/thanks" and "/wave" emotes are the ones that do not require standing up. Most of the emotes are also temporary but there are some exceptions to this rule. "/talk", "/dance", "/kneel", "/sit", "/sleep", "/cry", "/facepalm", "/sad" and "/crossingarms" has to be interrupted by another action to stop. In other words, they will be constantly performed for as long as your character won't take a step, stand up or use a skill.

Availability

Almost every emote in the game can be accessed right-away after character creation however there are some exceptions. "/Rockout" has to be unlocked with a special tome that refers to this skill - similarly to "/Shiver". There are also "/Shuffle", "/Step" and "Geargrind" that are unlocked with "How to Dance, Volume 1" book which can be acquired through the achievements.

Custom Emotes

Your character can also send special emotes to other players which do not include animations or sounds. For example, if you type "/emote enjoys a victory @Daniel" then the user with a name "Daniel" will receive a message "<Your name> enjoys a victory". The only rule when it comes to creating those messages is that it has to be started with either: "/me", "/emote", "/em" or just "/e" followed by space, text and maybe the "@name" if you wish to target somebody.

Emote synchronization

There is a special system implemented in the game that allows players to synchronize their emotes which can result in great effects for group photos or just fun in general. By putting asterisk "*" after the emote it will be put into the queue that is being processed every 5 seconds. If another player does the same thing within this time frame both you and this character will begin to act at the same time. The example text would look like this "/wave *".

Multilingual support

Each of the emotes have their corresponding equivalents in other languages. You can type one of the messages listed below in English, German, French, and Spanish so, for example, you can /kneel, /genoux, /hinknien, and /arrodillarse. All of the mentioned options will start the same action so you won't have to worry about translation.
