Trove Candy Barbarian Guide - Become a fearsome Savage!

About the Candy Barbarian

Candy Barbarian is one of the best all-around classes in the game that is strong in almost every situation. Because of that, it is an excellent choice for players who want to start their adventure with Trove. Moreover, Candy Barbarian can fulfill multiple roles depending on whether you want to play this class as a tank or as a DPS, you can just switch a part of your gear, and you should be good to go. Here are basic abilities of a Candy Barbarian:

  • Vanilla Swirlwind - Player starts spinning like a cotton candy hitting everybody around him. This attack gives Healing Candy for each hit that restores 10% health on pickup. Vanilla Swirlwind does not damage blocks, has a four blocks radius, and costs 60 Energy. The damage of this ability is 650% of the player's Physical Damage.
  • Sugar Crash - Player launches into the air just to crash on the ground devastating everything beneath in a 6x6 radius. Sugar Crash has the cost of 35 Energy and the destructive power of 450% from the Physical stat.
  • Eis-Crom Cone - Player invokes the power of an Eis-Crom (the God of Candy) to deal 7x7 area damage in front of him. It is an Ultimate Ability with a cooldown of 40s, the Energy cost of 40, and the Physical Damage of 1500%.

The best subclass for the Candy Barbarian is Lunar Lancer that gives the player the chance to transform during combat. Upon changing the form, your character will be given various bonuses and powers of the Lunar Lancer. If you are going for the Tank build, you can consider going for a Knight as your ally.
As a Candy Barbarian, you will shine in fights against multiple opponents. Since all of your abilities are AoE, and you have a better chance of healing yourself with more enemies around you. This class is one of the best when it comes to farming multiple groups of mobs, so it is one of the best for Shadow Tower and Flux Farming. If you are looking for a profession that is easy to play but strong at every stage of the game, Candy Barbarian should be your choice.

Gum Drop (passive ability)

Candy Barbarian's passive is a Gum Drop. When this class receives damage, it has a chance to drop a Gum that grants double Attack Speed and +20 Movement Speed while picked up. The effect doesn't stack, which means that subsequent Gum pickups only refresh the buff duration.

DPS or a Tank spec

Depending on the choices that you make in terms of stats and other matters, you might become a very Tanky Candy Barbarian or a balanced fighter that can both deal damage and survive through a lot. We advise going with a full tank build only if you have a party of players that want to DPS, looking for somebody who will fill the tank role. For a solo play, regular DPS build will be much more valuable, and even though it is more capable of dealing damage, it might also be used to tank after reaching 1 million Health.

Statistics priority

DPS Spec

  • Physical Damage > Critical Damage > Critical Hit > Maximum Health
  • Split 27 boosts that you get on gem levels 5, 10, and 15 into a 15 Physical Damage and 12 Critical Damage ratio. Upon reaching a Crystal Combat and Cosmic Gems, you will be able to get a 19/17 ratio on your stats.

On the equipment:
  • Hat: Max Health > Critical Damage > % Max Health > Attack Speed
  • Weapon: Physical Damage > Energy Regen > Critical Chance > Attack Speed
  • Face: Max Health > Critical Damage > % Max Health > Attack Speed
  • Ring: Physical Damage > Energy Regeneration

#note - Keep in mind that while we have chosen to go with a little bit of survivability on this build, it can be swapped for additional damage if you feel comfortable being squishy.

Tank Spec

  • Maximum Health > % Maximum Health > Health Regeneration > Movement Speed
  • You will be trying to reach a 2 million Health border or even to pass it by getting more health if possible. Health Regeneration might be traded for the damage; however, since you are unlikely to attack with this set up, you might as well get a little bit of regen to supplement your high amounts of life.

On the equipment:
  • Hat: Max Health > Movement Speed > % Max Health > Health Regen
  • Weapon: Physical Damage > Movement Speed > Stability > % Max Health
  • Face: Max Health > Movement Speed > % Max Health > Health Regen
  • Ring: Maximum Health > Stability

#note - Keep in mind that it is a full tank build designed mostly for a party play. If you choose to go for it, do not expect to perform well in solo content. As for the stats, you might want to swap some Maximum Health for additional Stability when you reach a 2 million Health border.

Ally

DPS Spec

Rapt Berserker is your main choice on the Dps Spec. +20% Physical Damage on top of a 15% Health and Movement Speed boost when enemies fall is a great addition and huge damage increase for a Candy Barbarian.

Tank Spec

For a Tank, your best bet is a Shield Servitor that decreases all incoming damage by 20% while improving Energy Regeneration by 30. Qubesly allies that furthermore expand the health pool are also a great choice. However, you will get more value from the defensive capabilities of a Shield Servitor, and it should be your main target.

Gems

DPS Spec

Scoop n' Gloop - By using Sugar Crash, you will be able to vacuum nearby enemies towards you, snaring all of them at the same time. Great Gem for grouping monsters for an AoE and Crowd Control purposes.
Pyrodisc - While killing an enemy, you will have a chance to summon a Fire Disc that damages nearby opponents. A good DPS increase in the form of Gem.
Explosive Epilogue - Killing enemies causes them to explode. Just as good if not better than Pyrodisc.

Tank Spec

Scoop n' Gloop - Just as mentioned before. Works as good for a Tank as for the DPS.
Mired Mojo - Tanking damage gives you a chance to summon snaring projectiles that slow down enemy movement. This Gem allows you to kite better and to tank bigger groups of enemies at the same time.
Stunburst - Tanking damage gives you a chance to summon stunning projectiles that lockdown enemies. An even better version of a Mired Mojo.

Flasks and Emblems

DPS Spec

Valorous Vial - 8 Flask Charges, 40% Health Recovery, and a 5% chance to restore a charge on crit. Best DPS Flask that you can get.
Martial Emblem - Improves Physical Damage by 250% for 3s. Huge Damage boost when you need a sudden burst.
Beamer Emblem - Summons a damage-dealing ally that fights along your side. A Great Emblem since your pet will have damage based on your stats.

Tank Spec

Death-Defying Vial - 10 Flask Charges, 30% Health Recovery. It is your best bet since you won't be able to recover lost flask charged like with Valorous Vial.
Damage Reflection Emblem - Reflects damage taken to the attacker. You will be tanking many mobs at the same time. With this Emblem, you will get a great value as you will be able to damage all of them at the same time.
Vampiric Emblem - Your attacks temporarily heal for the portion of your Maximum Health. Great tanking Emblem. As a Tank, you will be an ocean of Health, so even if you will manage to recover 1% of your total Health, it will still be a large number.

Class-specific tips

  • As a Candy Barbarian, you excel at facing multiple enemies at once. You will heal more for every enemy near you, so always stick to a large group of monsters.
  • Eis-Crom Cone is great for grouping-up enemies. Throw it on as many as you can.
  • Vanilla Swirlwind has a very small knockback, which is enough to interrupt enemy attacks. Use that to your advantage.
  • Eis-Crom Cone has a very distinct timing. Learn when to use it so that you won't miss it in the future.
  • The most basic Candy Barb combo is Eis-Crom Cone>Sugar Crash>Few auto-attacks>Vanilla Swirlwind. With it, you can group up enemies around you and knock them back when needed.
  • Your abilities have good healing only when you are fighting groups of monsters. Use flasks to heal up missing health against smaller packs and single monsters.
  • Use Eis-Crom Cone on your allies if they need to heal up.
  • Do not wander off from the pack just to kill ranged opponents. You will miss lots of healing, which might cost you a life. Try to always stay near the largest monster group during the battle.
  • When enemies are grouped around you using Vanilla, Swirlwind will knock them back in multiple directions. To avoid it, you can move to the outskirts of the group and then use your ability. This way, they will be pushed in the same direction.
  • Always keep your eyes on the candy. Be sure to pick up health and attack speed bonuses.
