Astellia PvP - immensely exciting part of game

The opportunity to test your skills (and gear) in combat against other players has been one of the main selling points of MMORPG for years. Whether it’s an organized, structured competition or a more chaotic skirmish – PvP always is an immensely exciting part of basically every game.

Astellia is an old-school MMORPG that has been released in 2019. It features the tried and true tab-targeting system, as well as some more flushed out, new mechanics. While it doesn’t have the traditional open world PvP, Astellia players can face against each other in Arenas and in a designated mass PvP zone.

PvP modes in Astellia

Astellia PvP is divided into small scale combat in the Arenas and mass warfare in Avalon. Let’s take a look at these game modes.

Astellia Duel Arena

Arenas are the structured PvP instances in Astellia. Players can fight in 1v1 or 4v4 matches. Duels are a great option for players who don’t like relying on their teammates, but unlucky matchmaking can make it pretty difficult. Just like in many other games, some classes or builds are natural counters to the others (tanks will always match up really well against burst-focused classes, while range can provide a significant advantage when both sides are squishy, et cetera.

4v4 Arenas are even more interesting. This is where coordination and building a strong team composition can come into play. Astellia classes are based on the classic MMORPG trinity (damage dealers, tanks and healers). This is a great aspect, since it requires the teams to actually work together. Tanks create space for the DPS characters to do their job, while healers try to keep everyone alive. You’re unlikely to win when everyone just does their own thing without any coordination.

Your character has to be at least level 30 to enter the Arenas. The rounds are relatively short, since they’re played in the deathmatch system. The first player who manages to defeat the enemy in 1v1 claims victory. In 4v4, one team has to kill the whole enemy squad to win the match.

Astellia Avalon

If you’re looking for a more dynamic, large scale combat – Astellia has got you covered. Avalon is a unique battleground that features a massive war between three factions: Physe, Ceres and Eos. It’s somewhat similar to Cyrodiil in Elder Scrolls Online, since it also includes some PvE content.

It’s a good option for some of the more causal players, who don’t like 1v1s, but don’t have a team to play with in 4v4. In Avalon, you can always enter solo. Just join your faction’s zerg and roam around the map with other players. Unlike the ESO Alliance War or GW2 World versus World, Avalon doesn’t feature any sieging. There are some important points that you might want to capture, but for the most part, it’s about the huge teamfights and killing members of enemy factions!

Avalon becomes available when your character reaches level 45. The victorious faction is decided through Battle Points. Every player can earn them by killing enemy players and through increasing their Hunting Score by slaying hostile NPCs and capturing objectives. The stronger NPCs provide higher score. The amount of points granted for player kills is calculated in an interesting way. If you defeat an opponent who’s more powerful than you, your faction will receive more Battle Points and you’ll get a higher Hero Grade. At the same time, slaying a bunch of weaklings provides a smaller amount of points and increases your Executioner Rank.

There are 12 Atra Stone Towers and 9 Holy Atra Stones in Avalon. They’re guarded by neutral NPCs. You can also take control over Artifacts, as well as enemy Barrier Stones and Barrier Cores. All those objectives can provide lots of Hunting Score, making your faction more likely to succeed. Taking over hostile Barrier Stones and Cores also decreases their points. These objectives often are the most contested points on the map and that’s where the biggest teamfights take place.

The players who participate in Avalon are rewarded with a special currency called Zender. Your reward will depend on your faction’s success and your personal score. It can later be spent in the Zender shop to buy items that are otherwise very difficult or impossible to acquire.

Astellia classes in PvP

Astellia incorporates an interesting class system. There are five base classes and each of them can advance into three subclasses.

Warrior is the only tank class in the game. Their main job is to taunt opponents and absorb damage. Warriors are decent in 1v1 fights, because they can survive for a long time and use crowd control abilities on their opponents. In group combat, they have to stand in the frontline and protect their allies from incoming attacks. Warrior can advance into Crusader, Berserker or Gladiator,

Scholar is Astellia’s healer class. They use a staff to cast healing spells, buff allies and remove the enemy debuffs. For the most part, they’re not as great in 1v1 duels, but they’re extremely valuable in any group fights. This class often is the highest priority target for the enemies in PvP. When you get rid of the healer, killing everyone else becomes much easier. Scholar’s subclasses are: Cleric, Shaman and Oracle.

Assassin is the only melee DPS class in Astelia. These characters rely on high mobility and the ability to enter stealth and hide from their opponents. This allows them to reach a target unnoticed and well… assassinate it. They’re extremely strong in PvP if they’re able to get onto a priority target before getting killed. This class utilizes critical strikes and damage over time effects like poison and bleed. Assassin can advance into Nightblade, Avenger or Phantom.

Archer is the physical ranged damage dealer. It’s a really strong offensive class that can deal lots of damage to single enemies and to multiple targets at the same time. Moreover, Archers can be really mobile and kite the enemies that get too close. They rely on powerful critical hits and excel at deleting targets with low defense. The subclasses available to Archer players are: Ranger, Hawkeye and Bounty Hunter.

Mage is the magical DPS character that destroys opponents with powerful elemental spells. They have access to great AoE abilities as well as strong utility in form of teleports, barriers and crowd control. They can shine the most in large teamfights, especially in Avalon. Mage can advance into Wizard, Sorcerer or Witch.

Astellia PvP Astels

Astels are the most unique (and eponymous) part of Astellia. They act as companions that assist you in battle. Each player can have up to 3 Astels active at the same time. They’re a very powerful addition to every character and build. Many players believe that optimal Astels are even more important than gear. Make sure to collect as many Astel cards as you can and expand your deck.

Astels can provide additional damage, crowd control, healing, buffs and even act as tanks. There are three types of them: Servants, Guardians and Saviors. Servants and Guardians can be kept active indefinitely, but they come with upkeep in AP (it’s much lower for Servants, since they’re significantly weaker). Saviors are the most powerful ones - they have a limited duration, long cooldowns and the highest AP costs. All Astels have abilities that you can drag onto your action bar.

Besides the three power tiers, Astels can also be divided into classes, based on their functions. There are seven of them: Knight, Warrior, Archer, Assassin, Mage, Scholar and Muse. Knights act as tanks. Warriors provide crowd control. Archers deal damage from range with quick attacks. Assassins have mobility and chase down potential. Mages provide shielding and offensive spells. Scholars are mainly focused on healing. Finally, Muses can buff you and your teammates.

There are a few ways in which you can develop your Astels. First of all, you can level them up. They gain experience when you have them in your active bar as you’re killing monsters competing quests et cetera. You can also use gems to enhance your Astels and increase their stats. Finally, you can rank them up to higher grades, by consuming multiple cards of the same Astel. The maximum grade that you can reach is 5, but doing so requires a lot of cards.

We recommend testing out which Astels are the most valuable for your playstyle. When you make that decision, focus on maxing out these servitors, by getting them to max level and grade as well as the best gems. Having the perfect Astel setup will provide you a lot of power in PvP. Of course, you also have to master commanding them and using their skills at the right times.

Astellia Colosseum

While Colosseum is not exactly a PvP feature, it does include an aspect of competing against other players. It’s a battleground where players have to protect a crystal located in the middle against the incoming waves of NPC enemies. The final score and rank are determined by the amount of HP remaining on the crystal.

It’s available in two modes: you can either do it solo or as a 4-player party. This variant obviously features some more powerful waves of monsters. Colosseum is a part of endgame content that offers valuable rewards.

PvP in Astellia

Astellia has quite a few interesting PvP features. Even the standard 1v1 duels become much more exciting with the addition of Astels. Their great impact is even more noticeable in the action packed group PvP, especially in Avalon. The mass teamfights become even more spectacular when every player has Astels under their command. Check it out and find your favorite playstyle!
